The smallest Ninjago LEGO set of 2019, Monastery Training packs quite a punch, with 2 minifigures, lots of golden weapons and some special armor. It’s a great introduction into the LEGO world of Ninjago, but it doesn’t have any of the main characters.
Lego 70680 Ninjago Monastery Training is a new 2019 set that was released in January of 2019. It has 122 pieces and is labeled for ages 6 and up.
LEGO 70680 Pieces & Minifigures
LEGO Ninjago Kai
Lego Ninjago Nya
There are 122 pieces in this set, including 2 minifigures. You get Kai and Nya, as well as some brick built training dummies. There is also some very cool Samurai X training armor with a decorative gold-colored moon blade, and many golden colored weapons.
In this set there are 2 regular bags, plus a bag of custom LEGO gold ninja weapons, and one instruction book. There are no stickers, and one 2×4 tile printed element (which I love).
LEGO 60212 Review
This is a pretty good starter set if you want to get into the LEGO world of Ninjago. There are some cool golden weapons, and a neat little training Dojo. It also comes with 2 minifigures, Kai and Nya who are main characters, but not THE main characters.
LEGO Ninjago Training Dummies
Overall it’s a fun build. A pretty easy set to put together, but there are a few places where you could get messed up, although it’s not so complicated the fix is hard. If you watch my YouTube video of this slow build, you can see where I had one thing upside down and had to fix it.
It’s a fun set to play with, as you can use the minifigs and have the attack the different training dummies, or punching bag. There is even a little wand where you stand a minifig, and move them around the training arena.

Could this be my favorite beginner LEGO set of 2019? Quite possibly yes! It’s less than 10 bucks, easy to assemble, has 2 minifigures, and lots of play-ability.
Lego 60212 Barbecue Burn Out is a new 2019 set that was released in January of 2019. It has 64 pieces and is labeled for ages 4 and up.
LEGO 60212 Pieces & Minifigures
Lego Camper Minifigure with Hotdog
Lego Fireman Minifig
There are 64 pieces in this set, including 2 minifigures (a park visitor, and a fire fighter). There is also a new ax element with a longer handle and red and silvered painted tip. Much more realistic than the older black handheld minifigure axe. Or do you spell it LEGO ax?
New LEGO Ax
In this set there are 2 numbered bags, and one instruction book. There are no stickers, and several pieces are printed (which I love).
LEGO 60212 Review
If you are looking for an easy beginner set, one where your child can do it alone, or with minimal help from an adult, this is a GREAT starting place. The Firetruck is built on a single chassis, and the pieces snap easily onto it.
The minifigures also connect easily together. They come as 4 pieces, and are partially assembled. The bottom leg half snaps into the top torso piece. Then the head goes on, then the hat (or hair). They can easily be disassembled and the pieces are interchangeable. Also, the legs are pre-assembled, as is the torso. What I mean is that the hands are already in the arms, which are already in the torso. But if you want to take these apart, you can if you want to.
This is a great starter set. Designed for ages 4+ it is an easy build and a great way to introduce kids to the LEGO world.
First you assemble the minifigures, which snap together quite easily. You also get to build a firetruck with a bucket the minifig can stand in, and move around. Put a minifigure behind the wheel and they can drive the truck. Clip the axe onto the side of the truck for easy transport. Lots of things to play with! The firefighter can hold a little piece like a fire hose, too!
There is also a little BBQ scene with a hotdog and a little brick built LEGO tree. The camper can hold the hotdog. Plus there are two little “fire” pieces that can be attached to other LEGO bricks or moved around.

More than ever, the LEGO Movies are combining the different major themes produced by the LEGO group, this set, Introducing Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi is the lowest priced set from the new Lego Movie 2 series that accomplishes that goal. You get a traditional Minifig, a Minidol, Duplo, regular LEGO blocks, and of course the new minifig for the Sweet Mayhem, who looks like the 3rd member of Daft Punk.
Lego 70824 Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018. It has 115 pieces and is labeled for ages 6 and up.

There are 115 pieces in this set, including 1 minifigure, and 2 minidolls. You get the new Lego Movie 2 Lucy. In addition you get the new Sweet Mayhem and Susan minidolls, plus a duplo brick built queen Whatevra Wa’Nabi (whatever I want to be), and a Banarnar brick built banana character.
Since I haven’t seen the movie yet, I first thought that the minidoll was the queen, but soon I learned that the Queen is brick built out of Duplo for the majority of the time. The minidoll is Sweet Mayhem.
In this set there are 2 numbered bags, and one instruction book
LEGO 70824 Review
Lego Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi
If you are looking for a good beginner set, one where your kid can do it alone, or with minimal help from an adult, this is a good starting place. And this set is good for both Girls and Boys. I like seeing more entry level sets for girls. For a long time LEGO was so focused on the male market.
I’ll be honest, at first I thought Sweet Mayhem was the Queen. Of course I haven’t seen the movie at the time of this blog post so I feel it was an honest mistake to make.
The first bag builds Banarnar, Lucy and Susan. I love the eyes on Banarnar, and the twiggy legs too.
In the second bag is the Sweet Mayhem Minidoll, and the pieces to build both versions of Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi. Plus a little stand for her to be on.

If you didn’t think there was anything sillier than a double decker couch, you are in for a surprise. Introducing the thricycle! Imagine a unicicyle, with 3 wheels and you know what I’m talking about.
Lego 70823 Emmet’s Thricycle! is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018. It has 174 pieces and is labeled for ages 7 and up.
LEGO 70823 Pieces & Minifigures
The Lego Movie 2 Duplo
The Lego Movie 2 Emmet & Planty
There are 173 pieces in this set, including 1 minifigure. You get the new Lego Movie 2 Emmet. In addition you get a duplo brick built alien with a goog-ly eye and a chomping mouth. Plus Planty, Emmet’s little plant friend.
The thricycle has 3 rubber tires, fold out stabilizers control levers. There is also a little gas station to service the machine.
In this set there are 2 numbered bags, one instruction book, and a small sticker sheet.
The first bag builds the Duplo chomping guy and the Gas Station. The second bag has Emmet and the Thricycle.
LEGO 70823 Review
If you are looking for a good beginner set, one where your kid can do it alone, or with minimal help from an adult, this is a good starting place.
There are a lot of smaller pieces, but nothing too complicated in the build. There are a few Technics pieces but nothing hard or wierd in the connections. I’d say the hardest part of this build is putting the tires on the rims.
If you didn’t think there was anything sillier than a double decker couch (from the first LEGO Movie), you are in for a surprise. Introducing the thricycle! Imagine a unicicyle, with 3 wheels and you know what I’m talking about.
The thricycle has 3 rubber tires, fold out stabilizers control levers. There is also a little gas station to service the machine.
The Gas station is a clever little build that uses a bull whip as a gas pump hose. There is also a little lever that can throw a tire rim if you do it just right.
The Thricycle is everything you would expect it to be. Yellow. Tall. 3-wheeled. And atop it all is a place for a minifig, and of course plant storage. The machine stands on it’s own, and all 3 wheels spin when moving it along a road.

Lego 70666 Ninjago The Golden Dragon is a new 2019 set that was released in January of 2019, but I spotted it on the shelves of my local Target store a few days early so I grabbed it. It has 181 pieces and is labeled for ages 7 and up. Even though this is an easy set to build, it still has a few pretty small parts and you need to be careful around little kids.
LEGO 70666 Pieces & Minifigures
LEGO Stone Army scout with
LEGO Ninjago Overlord
LEGO Golden Lloyd
There are 171 pieces in this set, including 3 minifigures. You get a Golden Ninja Lloyd, Overlord and Stone Army Scout. Plus you get a brick built Golden Dragon with a saddle for a single minifigure to stand in, adjustable wings, legs and a tail that you can move and pose, plus a stud shooter,
In this set there are 2 numbered bags, one instruction book, a small bag with the Dragon’s head, and a small sticker sheet.
The first bag builds the bad guys, the Overlord, and the Stone Army dude. Plus it makes the torso of the Golden dragon, and the tail.
Most of the connections for the dragon use a ball joint connector so they can move and be posed.
Bag 2 has Golden Lloyd, and the feet and wings and head for the Golden dragon.
At one point I made a mistake in building and put the flag on upside down. It has stickers that can only go on one way, but I put the whole thing on backwards, and took the photos.
LEGO 70666 Review
If you are looking for a good beginner set, one where your kid can do it alone, or with minimal help from an adult, this is a good starting place.
There are a lot of smaller pieces, but nothing too complicated in the build. No technics pieces, or strange connections that are difficult to figure out. The hardest part is the left and right sides of the Dragon, which look similar but are mirror images of each other.
When you open the mouth of the Golden Dragon, you can see the stud shooter!
As for weapons, you get a golden Katana sword for Golden Ninja Lloyd’s, Overlord’s blade spear and Stone Army Scout’s crossbow.

LEGO 70666 Release Date
This set was released in January of 2019. I got lucky finding this set a about a week early. It was the day after Christmas and I went to my local Target store to look for the new LEGO Movie 2 sets that were released, and saw this single set, on the shelf. There was no shelf tag, and this was the only box, so I grabbed it, and made this early LEGO review for you.
This page is our ever growing LEGO Dictionary. LEGO bricks have a unique terminology that can be confusing. This LEGO Glossary is an ever growing list of all the different terms you might encounter. Just like any hobby, there is LEGO Jargon that might be unfamiliar to you when just getting started, so I made this list of terms to help you. As you dive deeper into the cult of LEGO, you will meet people using these different terms. You may see them in Instagram comments, or on Facebook fan pages, or perhaps in person at a convention. Don’t worry, ready through this list a few times and you will soon know all the LEGO Terms there are!
I’ve sorted this LEGO Glossary alphabetically, with both basic and advanced terms mixed together. I also include basic facts about LEGO brick dimensions and LEGO building techniques.
A
AAFOL
Adult Female Fan of Lego – See AFOL
ABS
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. This is the plastic that LEGO uses to make most of their parts. It is a high gloss material that can be molded and has a grip and clutch power to connect the blocks and elements together. It also meets the high standards for safety, longevity and durability that LUG has established.
AFOL
Adult Fan of LEGO. (pronounced A-Foal)
AHOL
Adult Hobbyist of lego. (Pronounced like that bad word)
ALE
Adult Lego Enthusiast
Ambassador
A LEGO Ambassador is generally the leader of a LAN. An official title bestowed by the LEGO user group.
Anti-stud
This is generally the bottom of the brick. The female receptacle that a stud fits into.
B
Baby Bow
A Slope, Curved 2 x 1 No Studs element. Named the baby bow because it is the smallest piece in this size.
Baseplate
Thinner than a plate, baseplates are often larger in size (32×32 studs) and used as the foundation for a build. They have no Anti-studs.
BigFig
A larger Minifig – like the HULK, or a Wampa
Bignette
A lego scene that is larger than an vignette.
Billund
Billund Denmark is where the corporate headquarters for LEGO is located.
Blay/Bley
Bluish Light Grey – a color that was introduced around 2004 replacing the traditioal grey. The introduction of this color created quite a stir in the LEGO commnity and people either loved or hated this color.

Also known as Brick Made, this is an item that may have a dedicated lego element, but is instead built with bricks and elements. A good example is making a shark out of parts vs the pre-cast LEGO shark.

This was a LEGO specific website used for sharing photos. While still abailable online (at time of this writing) is is much less popular than Instagram or Flickr for sharing Lego photos.
Builder
Someone who creates with LEGO.

Cheese Slope
a 1×1 sloped tile. 33 degree angle. Named as such because it looks like a little wedge of cheese.

Generally hated by true LEGO fans. Clone brands are not true LEGO but may look and feel like the original brick. Often times these pieces and sets are much less expensive, but not up to the same quality standards as original LEGO bricks. See Lepin
Clutch Power
Clutch power is the holding power between a stud and an anti stud. It is the force that holds LEGO elements together.

Custom
A creation using non authentic or modified LEGO parts. It may be a combination, but is something a Purist or Cult member would never use.

When a group of people all purchase multiple copies of the same set, then get together, and combine all the pieces into common elements, then distribute the all the parts, this is called a draft. This allows a person to get a large quantity of the same parts without having to invest in multipe copies of a set themselves.
DSS
the Dreaded Sticker Sheet. A cheap alternative used by LEGO insead of printed elements. Purists may use them, but Cult of Lego members never do.
Duplo
A larger scale LEGO series that is used for younger builders, typically ages 1 1/2 to 5. They are twice as big as regular LEGO blocks so they are much easier to handle by little hands.

The new LEGO 10268 Vestas Wind Turbine is a REALLY TALL set. Taller than Ninjago City. Taller than the Ferris Wheel. It dominates above my LEGO city. This is the tallest set I have ever built, by far.
LEGO 10268 Pieces & Minifigures
There are 826 pieces in this set, including 3 minifigures, and a Power Functions Motor set. There are 2 Vestas technician minifigures, and a woman. Plus you get a LEGO German Shepard Dog. There is also a large LEGO Power Functions Battery Box, some LEGO LED lights, a power functions extension cord, and a Power Functions motor that goes in the very tippy-top of the wind turbine to make the whole thing spin around.
These are the LEGO Vestas Minifigures that are included in the set.
In addition to the minifigure and power functions there is also a new spruce tree element made from plants. Recently LEGO announced they wanted to discontinue the use of petroleum products in the manufacturing of LEGO bricks by 2030, and they have been shifting to alternative manufacturing materials. The first change has been with plants from plants.
Building LEGO 10268
In Box:
Green Base Plate
Instruction Book
5 big bags
5 medium bags
2 small bags
This was a fun set to build. Overall there were 12 bags, all unnumbered, a large green base plate, an instruction book, and ZERO stickers. I love it when LEGO uses printed tiles instead of stickers.
The build was done in several different groups. First was the 3 minifigures, and the Vestas Truck. Then was the house, which has powered lights and cleverly hidden wires. Next I got to build the mountain behind the house which holds the support for the wind turbine, as well as the large Power Functions Block.
Then I got to build the tower. So simple and elegant. Finally there was the generator at the top and the turbine blades.
All in all there were lots of long white bricks and plates in this set. It never got too repetitive, and overall was a fun build, especially the little modern house, and hiding the wires.
LEGO 10268 Review
I cannot say how tall this set really is. It’s long and skinny and spindly (but not too fragile), and goes really high. The design is such that it is completely supported and not wobbly which is great.
The LEGO Vestas Wind Turbine 2018
When you turn the power functions on the 3 blades spin slowly. It doesn’t go fast enough to be a fan in a room, Also, the blades are not dangerous, securely attached, but easy to break off in case you bump into them without damaging anything.
I also want to talk about the little truck that comes with the set. There is room as usual for one minifig in the front, and then in the back there is a cool little slider system that colds a second component inside, securely. Part of building the set is making a little welder’s system on a handtruck. There are some unique attachment methods I didn’t know about before, and when it is all put together it slides neatly and securely inside the back of the truck.
The Lego Vestas Truck with a brick built welder’s tanks that fit neatly inside the back.
The little modern red LEGO house is nothing special, a pretty standard build, but there are some clever techniques used to hide the power function wires that illuminate the lights at the front of the building.
A little red LEGO house.
Finally, I should end with the plants from plants that are used in this set. There aren’t as many as came in the initial plants from plants release set, but there are some cool elements for the LEGO collector.

Will Doc Ock steal the diamonds from the crane? Can anyone stop him and his octopus arms this time? Of course Spiderman can! And he is about to fly in in his flyer and save the day!
Lego 76134 Spider-Man: Doc Ock Diamond Heist is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018. It has 150 pieces and is labeled for ages 4 and up. This means it is a LEGO Juniors set and is suitable for beginner builders just starting out with LEGO. Even though this is an easy set to build, it still has a few pretty small parts and you need to be careful around little kids.
LEGO 76134 Pieces & Minifigures
Lego Spider-Man Minifigure (with blue legs)
Lego Doc Ock Minifigure
Lego Dock Worker Minifigure
There are 150 pieces in this set, including 3 minifigures. You get a Spider-Man, Doc Ock and a dock worker. In addition each minifigure gets his own “thing” Spider-Man gets his red and blue flyer (an easy to build jet plane), Doc Ock has a green and yellow boat, and the dock worker sits atop a crane that spins and can lift the box of diamonds.
In this set, you get 3 instruction books, and 3 bags (plus one extra bag with large parts). The steps are not too complicated and easy to follow for someone who is just getting started collecting LEGO. Each book is specific to each minifigure, so book one goes with Bag one which is Spider Man. Book two goes with bag two which is Doc Ock, and bag three goes with book three which builds the docs, and the dock worker.
LEGO 76134 Review
If you are looking for a good beginner set, one where your kid can do it alone, or with minimal help from an adult, this is a good starting place.
The spidey flyer is based on a large blue airplane piece and has two disc shooters, a cockpit that opens and has room for a minifigure, and a spider web that attaches to any stud on the plane.
The Doc Ock Boat uses a large pre-molded green and yellow boat, which has room spaces for holding some colored gems, as well as 2 articulated arms. The most difficult thing to build in this set are the articulated arms, but once you fingure them out it’s a very simple process.
The last bag has a large pre-molded base for the dock, and crane assembly. Large yellow girders make assembling the crane quick and easy, and there is a simple turntable at the top which allows the entire crane to spin around. You also get to build a little diamond box with opening doors and an attachment point on top for the crane to hold the box above the rest of the dock.

LEGO 76134 Release Date
This set was released in December of 2018, although it is labeled as a 2019 Lego Marvel set. I paid for this set with my own money.
Can Doc Ock get away safely? The Lego Spiderman Flyer with disc shooters and web.
Can you believe it is already 2019? This year I will turn 49. That means I’ve been playing with and collecting LEGO for over 40 years. I sure wish I had saved the sets I played with as a kid. But I know they are in good hands, at my brother’s house and getting used by my nephews.
There has been a lot of information flying around Instagram, Youtube and LEGO Blogs about new sets being released in 2019, including sets in the LEGO Cities, Classic, Creator, Friends, Ninjago, Minecraft, and Star Wars.
At first there wasn’t any info about release dates, but as December progressed, more information became available, and eventually over 100 new sets were visible on the LEGO store website as coming soon. I’m pretty excited to see all the new ones coming out! You can read about all the new 2019 LEGO Releases on a this separate post.
One other set I’m excited that is being released is LEGO Forma on the IndieGoGo site. It’s an articulated fish with different “skins” and it is scheduled to be sent out in January to the backers of the program (expect to see a review on my site when I get it).
Of course the big news for NEW LEGO sets in January of 2019 is the release of the Overwatch Series. I pre-ordered these sets as soon as I heard about it (and told you about it in my LEGO sets being released in NOVEMBER post).
I’m very excited about the release of these sets, and have a feeling they will be extremely popular and hard to get as not only will LEGO fans hoard them, but the will be collected by Overwatch players and collectors as well.
This is the most expensive set of the new LEGO Overwatch series, coming in at $90. It’s got 4 minifigures (Pharah, Mercy and Reaper are minifigures and Winston is big figure on scale with the Hulk or Thanos). There is also the classic Overwatch Rocket, which I believe can break apart into 2 smaller rockets, as well as a Launch Pad which holds the rocket in a launch position. There are also some food elements, and of course some very cool Overwatch weapons.

75971 Hanzo vs. Genji. (197 pieces) $19.99
This set, which is the 2nd most affordable has several unique features which I believe will make it very popular. Not only does it come with 3 minifigs, and custom weapons for each of them you also get to build the Hanamura dojo, which has several cool play features.

75970 Tracer vs. Widowmaker. (129 pieces) $14.99
It’s super cool that the cheapest (and smallest) set comes with the most popular Minifig – Tracer! Plus you get a ship, with room for a minifig, and some LEGO Overwatch weapons as well. I really hope the pieces are printed, but I have a feeling this set will use stickers.
