Most Marvel sets don’t come with an orange brick separator tool.  I suggest getting a few to have around to help with taking things apart.

2019 LEGO Releases

Today is New Year’s day 2019, and there are over 100 new LEGO sets being released today! Pretty much every major series LEGO makes is getting a handful of new sets, at all different price points, plus they are adding a 2 new ones, Overwatch and Sky Police.

Here is my list of new LEGO sets released on January 1 2019. I try to keep it as complete as I can, and add to it when I have more info. Please let me know in the comments below if I have left something off, or you have more info, or even if you just found this list helpful.

Lego 76134 Spider-Man: Doc Ock Diamond Heist

Will Doc Ock steal the diamonds from the crane?  Can anyone stop him and his octopus arms this time?  Of course Spiderman can!  And he is about to fly in in his flyer and save the day!

Lego 76134 Spider-Man: Doc Ock Diamond Heist is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018.  It has 150 pieces and is labeled for ages 4 and up.  This means it is a LEGO Juniors set and is suitable for beginner builders just starting out with LEGO.   Even though this is an easy set to build, it still has a few pretty small parts and you need to be careful around little kids.

LEGO 76134 Pieces & Minifigures

There are 150  pieces in this set, including 3 minifigures.  You get a Spider-Man, Doc Ock and a dock worker.  In addition each minifigure gets his own “thing”  Spider-Man gets his red and blue flyer (an easy to build jet plane), Doc Ock has a green and yellow boat, and the dock worker sits atop a crane that spins and can lift the box of diamonds.

In this set, you get 3 instruction books, and 3 bags (plus one extra bag with large parts).  The steps are not too complicated and easy to follow for someone who is just getting started collecting LEGO.  Each book is specific to each minifigure, so book one goes with Bag one which is Spider Man.  Book two goes with bag two  which is Doc Ock, and bag three goes with book three which builds the docs, and the dock worker.

LEGO 76134 Review

If you are looking for a good beginner set, one where your kid can do it alone, or with minimal help from an adult, this is a good starting place.  

The spidey flyer is based on a large blue airplane piece and has two disc shooters, a cockpit that opens and has room for a minifigure, and a spider web that attaches to any stud on the plane.

The Doc Ock Boat uses a large pre-molded green and yellow boat, which has room spaces for holding some colored gems, as well as 2 articulated arms.  The most difficult thing to build in this set are the articulated arms, but once you fingure them out it’s a very simple process.

The last bag has a large pre-molded base for the dock, and crane assembly.  Large yellow girders make assembling the crane quick and easy, and there is a simple turntable at the top which allows the entire crane to spin around.    You also get to build a little diamond box with opening doors and an attachment point on top for the crane to hold the box above the rest of the dock.

Lego 76115 Spider Mech vs. Venom

Oh NO! What’s going to happen to Aunt May? Is Spider-Man going to be able to save her in time? If you ask me, I think Venom just wants some tasty LEGO Ice Cream.

Lego 76115 Spider Mech vs. Venom  is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018.  It has 604 pieces and is labeled for ages 9 and up. 

I ordered this set from Target, and picked it up on the day it was released.  Once I opened the box, inside were 5 labeled bags, one sticker sheet  and 1 instruction book,  a bag of new LEGO web elements, and an orange brick separator.

LEGO 76115 Pieces and Minifigures

LEGO 76115 Review

This is a pretty easy set but isn’t my first choice for beginners.  I’d put this more of a lower intermediate set, not quite good for a first set, but better for some one who has built a few LEGO sets before.  As I always say, if the set comes with a brick separator, it’s not for beginners, and this set has 1 orange brick separator tool.

In this set, you get 1 instruction book.  The steps are not too complicated and easy to follow for someone who is just getting started collecting LEGO.

There are 5 bags, and the first bag had me building Spider-Man, and his Mech.  All in the first bag.  The Spider Mech isn’t as big or as fancy as the Venom one, but it does have moving arms, legs, hands and feet.  It also has a cleverly designed claw made of mostly the new web pieces, as well as a little shooter on the other hand.  Spider man stands atop the mech and is connected by 2 studs (so he doesn’t fall out), and controls the machine with some levers.

Moving to Bag 2, this contained all the parts for the Ghost Spider, and his hoverboard.  Plus a few to get started on the torso of the Venom Mech.  The Ghost Spider Hoverboard has a couple of stud shooters, and a surf board element with a sticker.

Bag 3 is when we really start to build the Venom Mech.  This bag builds most of the Torso, including the head and the mouth with the teeth.

Bag 4 continues to work on the Venom Mech with the legs and feet being put together.  It doesn’t get very repetitive, because there are only 2.

The final bag, Bag 5 has Venom Mech Arms and hands with claws.  Plus at the very end you get to add the super long tongue which is the perfect final addition.

Overall the Venom Mech is way cooler than the Spidey Mech.  But Spidey has more features.

Lego 76114 Spider-Man’s Spider Crawler is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018.  It has 418 pieces and is labeled for ages 6 and up.

I ordered this set from Target, and picked it up on the day it was released.  Once I opened the box, inside were 3 labeled bags, one sticker sheet, one packet of LEGO web material  and 1 instruction book.

LEGO 76114 Pieces

There are 418 pieces in this set, including 4 minifigures.  You get a Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Vulture and Sandman minifigures.  You get to build a base with a secret compartment for Sandman, plus his gigantic club, a backpack with moveable wings for Vulture, and of course the Spider Crawler with 8 moving legs that move when you roll it.  Plus there are 3 stud shooters on the Spider Crawler.

LEGO 76134 Review

This is a pretty easy set but isn’t my first choice for beginners.  It is however a great beginner set if you want to get into Lego Technics.

In this set, you get 1 instruction books.  The steps are not too complicated and easy to follow for someone who is just getting started collecting LEGO.

There are 3 bags, and the first bag had me building Sandman and Vulure, as well as the accessories that go with them.  Sandman has a base with a secret compartment to store some colored gems.  Plus you get a really big brick built hammer for him.  Vulture has a backpack with articulated wings.

Moving to Bag 2, this contained many of the parts for the Spider Crawler.  Like I mentioned this is a beginner to intermediate set, but it is really a good beginners set if you are familiar with LEGO but want to get into Technic.  

Although this set is not motorized, and there is no easy way to make a motor in it, it does have a cool moving feature   where there is a wheel inside the Spider Crawler that rolls when you push it.  It has a little axle with off-set connectors that cause the feet to move up and down.  It’s a cool little trick and build.  Great for starting out with Technics if you haven’t had experience with them before.

Bag 3 is mostly the legs and feet of the Spider Crawler, plus a few other little details of the set.  It’s just as important as the first two bags.  Since there are 8 legs that are pretty much the same, it get a little repetitive building the same thing over and over, but it’s not too bad.

Lego 76113 Spider Man Bike Rescue is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018.  It has 235 pieces and is labeled for ages 6 and up.

I ordered this set from Target, and picked it up on the day it was released.  Once I opened the box, inside were 2 labeled bags, one sticker sheet, one packet of lego web material  and 2 instruction books.

Lego 76113 Pieces

There are 235 pieces in this set, including 3 minifigures.  You get a fantastic Spider Man Minifig, a Carnage Minifigure, and a Miles Morales minifigure.  You also get to build a motorcycle, and a little laboratory build with some canisters that can be launched by pressing a button.  Plus there are lots of web attachments for all the different Spideys.

Lego 76133 Review

This is a pretty easy set but isn’t my first choice for beginners.  If you are looking for a good LEGO set for a beginner then check out the Spider Man Car Chase from the same series.

In this set, you get 2 instruction books.  The steps are not too complicated and easy to follow for someone who is just getting started collecting LEGO.

I began to put the set together starting with book one.  This bag had the Spider-Man Minifigure in, so that was the first thing I built.

The rest of the pieces in the bag were used to build Spidey’s rescue bike.  It’s an over sized motorcycle with extra wide wheels so it doesn’t fall over.  Instead of sitting on the motorcycle, Spider-Man stands on it.  On one side is a point of attachment for the LEGO web material, and on the other is a stud shooter that is modified to shoot little silver Lego Spiders.

The bag took me about 10 minutes to assemble, but someone else might spend 30 minutes on it.

Bag number 2 went with book 2.

There were 2 minifigures in this bag, Mile Morales and Carnage.

You an have all the extra arms on Carnage, or leave him more like a traditional minifig.  You can see which direction I chose.

The rest of bag 2 has the parts needed to make the  power generator (with exploding feature). DON’T worry, the exploding part is a simple lever with two small LEGO brick canisters on it.  I was able to launch them like 1 foot in the air at most.

The rest of the console has some stickers, and other detail functions, but the main play feature is the motorbike and the minifigs.

Sometimes you get a few extra pieces with some sets.  This set had an assortment of smaller pieces left over.

Lego 76133 Spider Man Car Chase

Lego 76133 Spider Man Car Chase is a new 2019 set that was released in December of 2018.  It has 52 pieces and is labeled for ages 4 and up.

I ordered this set from Target, and picked it up on the day it was released.  Once I opened the box, inside were 2 labeled bags, one car chasis plate  an instruction book.  This set had no stickers.  All the pieces are printed (Yay)!

There are 52 pieces in this set, including 2 minifigures.  You get a fantastic Spider Man Minifig and a Green Goblin Minifig.  You also get to build a car, a flying platform for Green Goblin, a flaming pumpkin for throwing, a 100 Lego Bill, and some web to play shoot from Spidey’s hands.

Lego 76133 Review

This is a real beginner set.  The instructions are simple and clear, and usually have one element per page.  Also most of the pieces are larger, although some are smaller.

First I built the two minifigs.  They go together in the traditional way, with a torso, head, and legs.  Spider Man doesn’t have any hat (or hair), but the Green Goblin does.  The GG also has two faces, and spidey only has one.

Next I built Spider Man’s car.  It was an easy build, with simple instructions and no unique building techniques.  It was fun, and would be a great set for a first time builder.

Next I put together the flying platform for the Green Goblin.  Coming in with less than 10 pieces it is small but looks like the real Green Goblin Glider.  It even has a clip in the back to hold his bag (which would be full of pumpkin bombs.

As for accessories, you get a web and a net for Spidey, and a 100 bill which the goblin has most likely stolen.  You only get one flaming pumpkin, and I would have liked to see one or two extra.

Sometimes you get a few extra pieces with some sets.  This set didn’t have any extra pieces.
