This year, 2025 LEGO Advent Calendars has added a new theme to it’s lineup. The Very first LEGO Advent Calendar was introduced in 1998 and was basic compared to what is being made today. For the first time Ever, LEGO is including a Minecraft Advent Calendar in addition to the others. Of course there are two big questions? Are you going to collect them all, and do you open them all at once or day by day?
This post has spoilers – you have been warned.
I can’t beleive that LEGO has already announced the six different 2025 Advent Calendars they will be making this year

How does the LEGO 2025 Advent Calendar Work?
The LEGO® Advent Calendars for 2025 offer a delightful way to count down to Christmas, blending daily surprises with creative building fun. Each calendar contains 24 numbered compartments, designed to be opened sequentially from December 1st through December 24th. Behind each door lies a unique mini-build, character, or accessory, providing a new piece to add to your festive LEGO scene each day. This daily unveiling transforms the anticipation of the holiday season into an engaging, hands-on experience.
For instance, the LEGO Star Wars™ Advent Calendar 2025 (set 75418) immerses fans in a droid-themed adventure. With 263 pieces, it features a variety of buildable droids, holiday-themed characters like a snowman BB-8, and mini-builds that collectively form Babu Frik’s workshop. Each day’s surprise contributes to a larger narrative, encouraging imaginative play and storytelling. These calendars not only offer daily entertainment but also serve as a means to build a cohesive and festive LEGO display by Christmas Eve.
The box has a lid that flips down revealing a highly detailed play mat, and reveals 24 individually numbered and perforated compartments. If you follow the traditional rules, on the first day of Advent (Dec 1) you open the first compartment, and pull out the first little Lego Advent Mini build. That’s where all the fun is – you don’t know exactly what you will be getting!

When will the 2025 LEGO Advent Calendars be available?
The release dates for the six different LEGO advent calendars in 2025 will be September 1, 2025. You will be able to find them at Official LEGO Stores, LEGO.com, and LEGO retail stores like Barnes & Noble, Target, Costco, and many other places.
Does LEGO make a new Advent Calendar every year?
YES! From the initial set over 25 years ago, LEGO has made a unique set every year, and added themes. This year they have the most themes with 6! And each set has 24 little mini builds – So thats quite a lot of different sets over the course of the series.
Some people collect the different LEGO advent calendars and never open them. I am guilt of that a little bit, and have quite a few from ober

Is the LEGO Advent Calendar Set a a good Value?
We all love LEGO – I mean you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t, right? But ultimately the value of a set can be defined two different ways – emotionally and scientifically.
Let’s start with the touchy-feely emotional aspect of LEGO sets – This year, LEGO has 6 Christmas Advent Sets – Disney, Friends, Harry Potter, City, Star Wars, and Minecraft. That means there is a theme for everyone. Plus, you get to spread the joy of building LEGO out over more than 3 weeks – with 24 different mini builds in each set. So yeah, the value is there if you ask me!
But what about from a more data-driven side? I like to use the easily understood price per piece valuation method. I’ve copied a simple table below showing the price per piece for each of the 2025 Christmas Advent LEGO sets – and you can see that they are a really good value!
Each set sells for exactly the same price – so the only variables are the parts/pieces/minifigs
Set | Price Per Piece | # Minifigs |
---|---|---|
Star Wars Advent Calendar | $0.17 | 5 |
Disney Advent Calendar | $0.19 | 4 |
Friends Advent Calendar | $0.19 | 5 |
Harry Potter Advent Calendar | $0.16 | 8 |
City Advent Calendar | $0.24 | 7 |
Minecraft Advent Calendar | $0.15 | 7 |

Will the 2025 LEGO Advent Calendars Sell out?
I asked Chat GPT if the LEGO Advent Calendars will sell out, and it simply responded with Yes.
However, there is usually 1 or 2 themes that don’t sell out, and can be found in January at a good discount.
I will be pre-ordering all 6 this fall when they become available (Sept 1 2025), and then doing daily builds in my LEGO Basement and sharing on Instagram. I’ve found that brings me the most joy year after year.

What is Advent?
Advent is a season in the Christian liturgical calendar that marks the four weeks leading up to Christmas. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
What Advent Represents
- Hope, peace, joy, and love are the key themes, often represented by candles in an Advent wreath.
- It’s both a spiritual preparation for Christmas and a time of reflection.
How an Advent Calendar Works
An Advent calendar is a countdown tool that helps mark the days of Advent, especially popular with children. It usually starts on December 1st and runs through December 24th (Christmas Eve).
- Each day is represented by a numbered flap, door, or box.
- Behind each flap is a small gift, picture, or message. Modern calendars might include:
- Chocolates
- Toys
- Bible verses or prayers
- LEGO pieces or puzzles
- Beauty products, teas, or other themed items
Some people or families also create DIY Advent calendars with personalized items or acts of kindness.
History of LEGO Advent Calendars
1998 – LEGO released its first Advent Calendar in Europe:
- Set 1298: LEGO Advent Calendar
- It featured a mix of simple holiday-themed builds and minifigures.
- Originally part of the Town theme.
1999 – The first calendar was introduced in North America.
Evolution by Theme
As their popularity grew, LEGO began releasing multiple themed calendars each year:
LEGO City (Since 2005)
- The most consistently released series.
- Features city-based holiday scenes: snowplows, kids playing, fireplaces, Santas, and gifts.
LEGO Castle (2008), Pirates (2009)
- Short-lived themed calendars for fans of medieval and pirate builds.
LEGO Harry Potter (Since 2019)
- Features mini-scenes and builds from specific Hogwarts events, plus exclusive minifigures.
- Very popular with collectors.
LEGO Star Wars (Since 2011)
- One of the best-selling Advent calendars.
- Includes mini ships, droids, and festive versions of characters (e.g., Darth Vader in a Christmas sweater).
LEGO Friends (Since 2012)
- Set in Heartlake City, it focuses on mini-dolls, pets, and colorful holiday scenes.
Unique Traits
- LEGO calendars typically have 24 flaps, one for each day of December leading up to Christmas Eve.
- Each flap reveals a mini build, accessory, or minifigure.
- Some years include exclusive characters or holiday outfits not found in any other sets.
Collectible Appeal
- Many fans collect them year after year.
- Some even combine all the builds into custom winter village scenes.
- Older sets, especially Star Wars and early City calendars, are now collectible.
